Discover Salalah
& Dhofar

SAS Central is an urban starting point for Salalah. From a central address you can move between city life, the coastline, the green landscapes that arrive with Khareef, and the wider Dhofar region at your own pace.

With free parking on site, a car can stay where it is until the day you want it, which makes both quiet city days and long drives out equally easy to arrange.

The Dhofar coastline runs long and open, and much of it is within reach of a single day out from the city.
In the City

City and everyday Salalah

Salalah works well as a city to stay in rather than only pass through. Shops, restaurants, cafes, pharmacies, and everyday services sit within the central districts, which makes short errands and unplanned evenings simple.

Staying centrally also keeps journeys across the city reasonable, whether you are heading to a family gathering, a meeting, or the airport road. The Sultan Qaboos Mosque is one of the city's landmark buildings and a common first stop, while New Salalah Park fills with families once the evening cools.

Shoreline

Coast and beaches

Several stretches of the Dhofar coast sit a short drive from the property, and each one has its own character.

Dahariz Beach

The closest of the three and the easiest to reach on a whim, which makes it a natural choice for a walk before dinner or an unhurried afternoon.

Al Haffa Beach

Sits beside the old souq quarter, so time on the sand pairs neatly with browsing frankincense stalls and the streets behind them.

Al Hisn Beach

A little further along the coast, and quieter for it, worth the extra minutes when you want space rather than company.

Beyond the City

Into Dhofar

Beyond the city, Dhofar opens into wadis, mountain roads, and long coastal drives. Wadi Ain Sahalnoot is an easy drive from the property and shows how quickly the landscape turns rocky and green once Salalah is behind you.

Further out, escarpment viewpoints and quiet stretches of coast reward a full day with a car. Set out early, take water, and treat the driving itself as part of the trip rather than the cost of it.

Season

The Khareef
months

Salalah's Khareef season brings cooler, misty weather and turns the surrounding hills green. It is the busiest time of year in Dhofar, and the character of the region shifts noticeably: low cloud over the escarpment, damp air in the mornings, and a softer light across the landscape.

Planning ahead is sensible during this period, as the city fills with visitors and apartments book further in advance than they do the rest of the year. If your dates fall inside the season, choose the layout you want early rather than close to arrival.

Planning

Independent travel resources

These independent websites are useful for planning time in the region. They are not operated by SAS Central, and the property does not run tours, excursions, or transport of its own.
